Biomedical researchers receive Hartwell Foundation awards

Two faculty members from the University of California, Davis, are among 12 scientists selected to receive Individual Biomedical Research Awards from The Hartwell Foundation this year. The awards provide $100,000 of direct support each per year for three years, as well as videoconferencing equipment for periodic communications with the foundation and other award recipients. The foundation is also funding a UC Davis Hartwell Foundation postdoctoral researcher with $50,000 per year over two years.  Read more...

Public workshop: Nitrate in groundwater study findings

Public workshop to discuss results of a recent UC Davis report that found one in 10 people living in the Tulare Lake Basin and Salinas Valley are at risk of exposure to harmful levels of nitrate contamination in their drinking water. The report examines sources of nitrate contamination, as well as impacts and costs, and evaluates promising funding and policy actions. The report will be used to inform the California Water Resources Control Board in its recommendations to the Legislature later this year.  Read more...
